Gameplay

Baldur's Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, is a role-playing game based on the 5th edition rules of Dungeons & Dragons. The game's story begins when you are captured by Mind Flayers, who implant a tadpole in your brain. You now must navigate a path toward salvation while managing strange new powers that awaken within you.

The combat is turn-based and highly tactical. Position, elevation, spell selection, and environmental effects all matter. You can use barrels of fire, push enemies off cliffs, or combine spells to create devastating effects. Outside combat, the dialogue system is remarkably reactive. Your character class, race, background, and prior actions all affect how other characters respond to you.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere of the game is dense with dark fantasy. From the ravaged cities to the haunted shadows of the Underdark, every environment feels dangerous and alive. The game features an outstanding soundtrack and fully voiced dialogue for all major characters. The player's companion characters each have their own personal questlines and moral struggles, making the story feel personal and layered.

Features

Major features include deep character creation with multiple races, classes, subclasses, and backgrounds; turn-based co-op multiplayer for up to four players; a complex dialogue alignment system; and an interactive world with many consequences. The game does not have a linear path; you can choose to ally or fight almost any major character. This leads to many branching endings.
